Harlem Prep Charter School
In March of 2011, Democracy Prep Public Schools was granted permission to take over a failed charter school, Harlem Day, which for over a decade was unable to provide a quality education for its students. Democracy Prep changed everything at the school except the students and families who are desperate for a quality education, transforming Harlem Day into Harlem Prep. A charter turnaround has never been done before, and Harlem Prep will use this historic opportunity to prove that it is neither the students nor the community in which they live, but rather the quality of the school and teachers that determines our students’ success.
